August 5th – 9th from 9am to noon
So much can be done with moving pictures. From classics like Loony Tunes to epics like Avatar (the blue ones, not the airbender) our culture is steeped in different ways to tell stories using different types of animation. We will work on lots of different types of animation during this week’s camp. We will study the rules of cartoon animation, technical aspects like framerates and dimorphic frames, and spend a lot of time creating flip books, paper animation cells, stop motion projects, and computer animated images. There is a little bit of everything so that the campers can experience the wide open world of possibilities. A note to parents: there is a lot of sitting and drawing in the camp. Storyboarding, planning, and repeated drawings over and over are a large part of the process. If they are impatient or not good at sitting still for too long, maybe you want to pass on this one.
