We are excited to announce a new STEAM Learning Center Program at the Fab Lab! These programs are starting September 3rd!
We have adventures designed for different age levels from 3rd grade up! These classes run for one month to three months, and we will be adding more so that we have offerings throughout the school year!
We are starting out with:
Drawing and Design (3rd -5th grade AND 6th -8th grade)
Beginners Dungeons and Dragons (Age 10 to 16)
Intermediate Dungeons and Dragons (Age 10 to 16)
Beginner Animation and Video Editing (3rd grade and up)
Minecraft Modding (3rd – 5th grade AND 6th -8th grade)
Beginners Cosplay (age 10 to 16)
Intermediate Cosplay (age 10 to 16)

Monthly Open Woodshop
Once a month we host an open woodshop day for anyone (member or not) to come in and use the woodshop.
If you have experience (and act safely!) you can use the tools yourself or you can have one of our experienced employees or members do it for you. Cost is a sliding scale depending on how much you need to do. (A drill for 5 mins? free. The tablesaw for a half hour? Not free.)

We run our classes for all ages, and we try to have something for everyone! From woodshop to knitting, and from electronics to pottery, join us to hone a skill or learn a new one! Our classes are designed to be accessible for all skill levels, so sign up for one today!
Our ‘Basic Classes‘ are the perfect introductory courses needed to start your next project! Each class will give you a basic understanding of the various machines and programs found at the Iowa City Fab Lab. (These classes satisfy the safety/basic training requirement and are FREE for members)
Our ‘Workshops‘ range from introductory to advanced and are meant to be a deeper dive into the various techniques, mediums, and projects! (Members receive 25% off all Workshops)
