Fab Gab

February 26th, 2019

Fellow Fabbers,

It has been a full week here at the Fab Lab!  We are gearing up for our Harry Potter March, with decorations being made, classes getting placed, and events being planned.  Check out our classes and see what you would like to do!  Our amazing Ali is hosting two classes, a class on making your own boxers or panties (sizes go from 29” to 54”) with either Marauders map fabric (Mischief Managed!) or your own selection.  The second class is creating a knitted hat similar to the one worn by Queenie in the Fantastic Beasts movies.  This is an advanced knitting class held over three different sessions, and requires knitting experience.  But the hat is beautiful, and you need one!

We are also partnering with the printers at Public Space One to bring you a printmaking class, using new and old techniques.  You will use software to convert a picture to a laser-cuttable file, and turn it into a printing slide.  Then using the printing presses at PSOne, you will make your own Azkaban wanted poster!  We will also be 3D printing wands for sale, holding a jewelry class on building your own Time Turner necklace, and more!  At the end of the month, we will have an auction for some of our decorations, including the Monster Manual pillow, large House Crests, and other goodies during our Potter Party.

Our Summer Camps are live, and filling up fast!  If you have a child who wants to have a hands-on camp this summer, look no further than the Fab Lab.  We have morning and afternoon camps, or you can choose both for an all-day camp!  Ages 7 to 16, with varying degrees of difficulty depending on age and/or skill level.  There are only 20 spots per camp, so sign up soon!  Unlike most camps, ours start the week after school is out, and go up until the day before school begins!  Click here to find out more!

Interested in becoming more involved with the Fab Lab?  We are always looking for volunteers that want the lab to improve.  There are many ways to help out, from helping during events to joining the MAB (Member Advisory Board).  If you want to make a difference and feel good about doing it, look no further than the Fab Lab!

I will talk with you next week.  Happy Making!
