A happening event Sun May 18th from 2 -4 PM led by Fab Lab Director Kirk Cheyney.
Are your walls dull and full of 90 degree angles? Nothing but those square frames and the pictures of your family? Want to spice things up with several new, exciting angles? Then this class will be perfect!
Join Kirk as he leads you through the process of making a wall sculpture using the kakuasa pattern of kumiko, the traditional Japanese art form using repeating patterns of wood to form complex geometric designs.
We will make a four-square frame pattern with six different unique internal configurations. Usually this pattern would be a small piece, about 4 inches on a side. We are enlarging the pattern to a 2’x2’ wall hanging, which will look great in any home!
The pieces will be semi-prepped for the class, so you will only need to make the finishing touches and fittings, which will make everything run smoother (and faster) than starting from scratch.
Learn a new style of woodworking and create a great gift for yourself or anyone else. You don’t even have to tell them their walls are boring!
