Our welding studio is not up and running yet. This is a placeholder for the monthly class. It will be held every month on the 1st Monday.
Wouldn’t it be great to make two pieces of metal become one piece of metal? Would you like to fix that old deck chair? Have you ever wanted to create cool art or furniture pieces? This is the class you have been waiting for! We will go over the basics of welding you can do in the Fab Lab: Stick welding, TIG welding, MIG welding, and plasma cutting. We will provide you with a rundown of safety equipment, how to use the different tools, how to get a decent weld (and how to check it), and what to do when things go wrong!
This class is great for a beginner who has always wanted to try it (but did not want to buy all the expensive equipment), and for members who want to be able to access our welding equipment on the regular. We will be making a ‘Ticket’, which is basically a small chunk of metal that has the different welding, cutting, and attaching methods that we will be teaching. Members will sign their Ticket and it will be the proof that the member has taken the class. Beginner non-members can take theirs home to show off. Just remember, this Ticket is a completely useless chunk of metal, not some sort of ongoing project.
