Everyone likes that store in the mall that helps you pick out and stuff a new friend. It is pretty cool, as far as it goes.. But in this after school program, you will actually build it! This two week session is dedicated to making a small stuffed animal from scratch! Unfortunately you won’t have time to make a full teddy bear, but we will have three different designs to choose from, as well as all the fabrics and embellishments! We will learn how to draw and trace a pattern, (we may be sneaky and use the laser cutter for the fabric cutting, as well) cut out the pattern, and use a sewing machine. We may use our 15 string embroidery machine as well, and we will definitely be learning a bit of hand sewing. Stitching out the details, learning the how and why of the design, and having step-by-step instruction the whole way through. Everyone should know the basics of sewing, and this class uses it all! Power tools, sharp stuff, lasers, pattern recognition, and most of all, creativity! Each student will finish the session with their own fully self-created stuffed animal to take home and keep forever.
