Fab Gab

It must be an early Christmas, because you are getting a Fab Gab two days early!  Yes, that being with the big bag over his shoulder will be wandering around soon looking for all the bad little girls and boys, so he can stuff them in his sack take them away and devour them throughout the year.  Ahh, memories.  What would this time be without Krampus?  Remember kids, you have to leave out the milk and cookies, so he gets distracted and full, and you can survive another year!

Speaking of eating and children, last weekend we had a Gingerbread making contest at the Fab Lab, and the kids who came in need your help!  Head over to our website and vote for your favorite.  (The voting area is at the bottom of the page.)  The kid with the most votes by 10pm on Christmas night will get a custom laser cut gift from us at the Fab Lab!

We at the Lab will be taking Christmas eve and Christmas day off, but will be back on the 26th!  With a new year on the horizon, we are doing what everyone does this time of year, adding in some new, and getting rid of some old.  One of the New is happening on the 7th of January.  It is the first meeting of our book club!  Click here to go to the event page, and share it with your friends!  Our book club will be like many others, with a few extras added in. Sometimes we will have demos and discussions about the technologies used in the books we read.  This club is a good way of meeting other people who have your interests, and want to hang out at the Fab Lab.
We will also be adding other clubs soon, such as woodworking, quilting, robotics, knitting, and more.  These will be informal meetings where you can share your designs and frustrations with others who share your passion.

Other things to look forward to in the coming year, are more classes, courses, and camps!  We are working on an after school program with a focus on high tech science tools and design.  We will also be adding more free teen events, and many more courses which delve deeper into a subject.  Courses on 3D printing, starting your own business, CAD design, and the design process are all planned to start early next year.  The courses will be six to ten weeks long, and be much more in-depth, to help you improve your skills.

For all of you who celebrate Christmas, have a happy one.  For those who celebrate Yule, the sun came up this morning, and the wheel turns.  For those who celebrate other winter festivities, sorry everything is closed for two days this week.  And of course for those who have children, have fun with the two weeks of no school!  I have Krampus’ home number, if you get desperate.

Talk to you next week, and have a happy holiday!
